I'm Dr. Amanda Neal, a licensed clinical psychologist dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate challenges, build insight, and grow with confidence.

I specialize in evidence-based assessment, differential diagnosis, and personalized treatment of neurodevelopmental conditions and co-occurring emotional concerns. My clinical focus includes:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

  • Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Specific Learning Disorders (e.g., dyslexia, dyscalculia)

  • Intellectual Developmental Disorders

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Whether you're a parent seeking clarity about your child’s learning profile, a teen experiencing emotional dysregulation, or an adult navigating executive functioning, anxiety, or identity-related concerns, I’m here to help you understand your experience and take meaningful steps forward. I provide comprehensive psychological evaluations and strengths-based therapeutic support tailored to each person’s unique needs.

My Approach

In addition to my work in neurodevelopmental psychology, I offer trauma-informed psychotherapy grounded in safety, trust, and collaboration. I understand how early adversity, chronic stress, and complex trauma can impact emotional regulation, relationships, and one’s sense of self. Therapy with me is evidence-based and integrative—drawing from:

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Mindfulness-based practices

I support individuals across the lifespan—including adolescents, young adults, parents, and older adults—by providing a structured, compassionate space to heal, grow, and develop practical tools for long-term resilience.

My Experience

  • I am a licensed clinical psychologist (PsyD, Hofstra University) specializing in evidence-based care for children, adolescents, and adults. My doctoral research focused on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills training for adults on the autism spectrum, and I graduated with distinction in School-Community Psychology.

  • I trained at the Albert Ellis Institute, where I completed a postdoctoral fellowship and advanced certification in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). My experience also includes clinical and supervisory roles at Hofstra University’s Diagnostic and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders and the Child and Family Trauma Institute, where I provided therapy, evaluations, and multidisciplinary care for individuals with complex needs.

  • In schools, I have conducted psychoeducational assessments, individual and group counseling, executive functioning coaching, and parent/teacher consultation—helping students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

  • Across settings, I make psychological services accessible and practical by blending clinical expertise with compassion. I am dedicated to supporting clients, families, and professionals with personalized therapy, evaluations, and consultation. I currently hold a clinical psychologist position at Cognitive & Behavioral Consultants.

What Sets My Work Apart

What distinguishes my work is the blend of clinical precision and deep compassion. I believe that therapy should feel both safe and productive—structured enough to create change, yet flexible enough to meet you where you are. My goal is to help you not only manage symptoms but truly understand yourself, feel seen, and build a more meaningful life.

If you're seeking thoughtful, evidence-based care delivered with warmth and respect, I’d be honored to support you.
Let’s work together to create a space for clarity, growth, and lasting change—on your terms.

Alongside clinical practice, I’m passionate about teaching and mentoring. I’ve taught undergraduate and graduate psychology courses at St. Francis College and Hofstra University, and have led clinical trainings on executive functioning, neurodiversity, anxiety, and trauma-informed care. I remain committed to helping the next generation of clinicians lead with science, empathy, and cultural humility.
